R. RAJAMANI , Retd. IAS, Secretary to Government of India. Vice Chairman, IKP Knowledge Park
Mr. Rajamani started as a banker and in 1959, joined the IAS in Andhra Pradesh. He worked in the State in districts and the Secretariat Departments of PWD, Finance and Planning, Forestry and Rural Development etc. He worked in the Central Government in three spells in the Ministry of Finance(Banking), Prime Minister's office (with three prime Ministers), Cabinet Secretariat, and in 1989 became Secretary Electronics. He retired in 1994 as Secretary Environment and Forests.
Mr. Rajamani dealt with Science and Technology in all these capacities, chaired an Advisory Committee on STEP projects, was member of the NSTEDB. Since retirement he is busy advising, speaking and writing on S&T, Finance and Environment. He is Adviser in the UNEP Regional office for Asia Pacific and is on the Board of the IKP Knowledge Pak and till recently has also been on the board AB Incubator of ICRISAT at Hyderabad. Mr. Rajamani has authored a book on Environment.
