Life Science Incubator
 
ICICI Knowledge Park has set up a Life Science Incubator (LSI) with an incubation space of around 3,200 sq.ft. for 8 incubatees to encourage and nurture startup companies and spin offs in pharmaceutical and biotechnology related areas with the support of National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) of Dept. of Science and Technology (DST) Government of India.

The LSI includes a 3,200 sq ft Life Sciences Incubator with fully furnished dedicated lab space, shared equipment and an assistance programme that is expected to benefit innovative start-up companies and scientist entrepreneurs.
Incubation lab:   Incubation lab of 3200 sft at ICICI Knowledge Park is operational since January 2006 .

Modules of 225 sft. with lab and office space

 
 • Lab fitted with fume hood /laminar flow unit, bench with sink, fire protection systems, vacuum and compressed air, utility lines, filtered soft and DM water

 • Office furniture, telephone and PC with internet

 • Shared equipment facilities like PCR, Centrifuge, Polarimeter, Biosafety cabinet, Incubator shaker, UV- VIS Spectrophotometer, Cold room, Refrigerator etc.

• Infrastructure related: Dedicated fitted out lab (~225 sq ft) with fume hood/ laminar flow cabinet, work bench, ventilated cabinet and office furniture; Shared equipment, facilities management, access to vendors

• Business related: Assistance in company incorporation, vetting/writing business plans, mentoring

• Funding related: Flexible lease rentals with minimal initial cost, fund raising, networking with VCs and other funding agencies

• Technology related: Information services, regulatory compliances, technology licensing and management, IP management
 
Who can be a part of IKP LSI?
 
• If you are a scientist/entrepreneur with a great commercialisable idea in life sciences which requires further R&D, please send us a proposal.

• Proposals would be selected based on their innovation merit, sustainability and marketability of the product/ service.
 
How to be a part of LSI
 
Please submit a proposal to us covering the following points for consideration by a technical expert committee and the ICICI Knowledge Park Board:

• Name, address and legal status of company (if registered)

• Area and particulars of research programme to be carried out

• Founding members and there backgrounds

• Management Team, Scientific Advisory Team

• Key scientists

• Background of Promoters – individuals/institutions/ companies

• Involvement of promoters

• Broad business plan

• Means of funding
 
B. Involvement of LSI
 

• Incubation facility required

  – Lab unit (chemistry/ biolab)

  – Period of lease

  – Likely timeframe for occupation

  – Number of staff likely to be positioned

  – Major R & D equipment to be installed if any

  – Effluents that are likely to be generated with reference to quality and quantity, and their handling, bio-risks, gene containment facilities (if relevant) and commitment of compliance within the rule of the law, especially that of the state regulatory authorities
